🎬 Housefull 5 Review

Plot & Concept:
Housefull 5 takes the franchise’s trademark slapstick chaos onto a lavish cruise setting. The story experiments with a unique gimmick—two different endings screened randomly across theatres. On paper, this sounds fresh and exciting, but in execution it doesn’t quite land. Instead of creating suspense or curiosity, it adds to the confusion and weakens narrative flow.

Humour & Writing:
The film heavily relies on double-meaning jokes, WhatsApp-style forwards, and recycled gags that feel outdated. While a few dialogues generate chuckles, most of the humour feels forced, juvenile, and at times outright cringe. The writers seem more focused on delivering punchlines than building a coherent story.

Performances:

  • Akshay Kumar tries to hold the film together with his usual comic timing and charisma, but the weak material limits him.

  • Riteish Deshmukh brings energy, though his antics feel repetitive compared to previous films.

  • The rest of the ensemble, including the female leads, are mostly underutilized—serving more as glamour elements than impactful characters.

  • Supporting actors exaggerate their parts, adding to the loudness but not the laughter.

Direction & Execution:
Director Tarun Mansukhani aims for grandeur with cruise sequences, lavish sets, and ensemble chaos, but the execution feels disjointed. The narrative is cluttered with too many characters and subplots, leaving little room for actual storytelling.

Strengths:

  • Star power and a few comic punches.

  • Lavish visuals and high production value.

  • Loyal fans of the franchise may still enjoy the over-the-top madness.

Weaknesses:

  • Overreliance on crass humour and outdated jokes.

  • Lack of emotional connect or logical progression.

  • Too noisy, too crowded, and not enough fresh comedy.

Verdict:
Housefull 5 is a film that tries to reinvent itself with a "two endings" gimmick but ends up sinking under the weight of forced jokes and chaotic execution. It may entertain die-hard fans of the franchise who enjoy mindless slapstick, but for most viewers, it’s a tiresome watch.
